Color Correcting for Projection?

Hi All;

Getting ready to have my film (video) screened in a theater with a 5000ansi projector. I was wondering if anyone has any tips as far as overall contrast correction to limit the desaturation/washing out of the colors/blacks.

Thanks in advance,

octavio

I usually don't change color correction for a projector. What I do worry about is lightening things up a bit. Maybe it is just the projectors that I have seen my stuff on, but anything that seems a bit dark (or bordering on that), I lighten up, otherwise you can barely see it.

put some color bars on the front of your film. And use that to calabrate the projector. That whay the projection will look just like you film was ment to

Assuming that the projector is capable of adjusting enough for a proper calibration. Many just can't be pushed very far.

Hey all;

Thanks for the quick feeback. I am running a test today on my own projector with +0, +5 and +10 contrast filtration in FCP. I think it's just an obssesive compulsive thing. After working super hard to create a great image it is just so infuriating to see milky blacks and desaturated chroma out of a projector. I may have to let one go...

Thanks again guys,
Octavio

Hi IMGENTERTAINMENT;

Thanks for the heads up. Any tips for getting rid of the washed out projector look? I know it will never look like my CRT image but hoping someone can point me in the right direction of getting it to look as close possible.
