Add your color correction filters/FX to the eventFX for that one clip??

(Did that answer your question?)

Sorry...what I meant was a portion of that clip, not the whole thing.

A portion temporally, or like a split screen?

If termporally, just split the clip (S key).

If like a split screen, use two tracks, duplicate the clip, and crop or mask the upper clip.

Sure, but just splitting the clip is a whole lot easier. If you want to ease into the effect, just set up a crossfade.

Ex. -- If I wanted to slowly fade to black and white, I sure as heck would not keyframe it. I'd split the clip, make the second one B&W, and then crossfade.

That's what we all love about Vegas; the may ways it puts FCP too shame.

No wait, I meant the many ways it accomplishes the same thing.

I try not to Split clips when I don't have too; I hate juggling events and Event Grouping. I do do it both ways though !

Okay, here's a variation, suppose you had 5 clips on a timeline and want to apply cc to just two of them--how would you apply the same cc to the two clips? Is there a way to hi light them?

In order of practicality:

Apply them to one, right-click and copy it, then right-click and Paste Event Attributes to the other. That will also paste any envelopes or playback rate or crops and will paste the effects on top of whatver other effects are already there, so do it first.

Or, you can save the effects in the first clip as an effects chain, then apply that effects chain to the other clip.

Or, you can put those two clips on another track and apply the effects to the track.

Or, you can set up separate bins in your media pool, put the clips you want to apply the effects to in their own bin, and apply the effects to the bin.
