color correct window-massive blowout

hopefully one of my last questions here for FCP, as I'm getting the apple books in the mail sometime soon...but I have a small project and it's due tomarrow, I'm done and have been color correcting, but there's one scene...

a window, behind curtains(that are blue) is right in like 50% of the shot...as I look at it more, it draws the eye away from the actual subject(person) ....I'd like to tone down the massive blown out highlights coming from the window. (Note: if it helps any: the light is blue-ish magenta tinted)

I've tried all the filters but can't seem to get them to work --- so:

my question is, any ideas on what I can do to tone down the blue/magenta-ish highlights coming from a window behind curtains. (I've tried taking down the blues in the scene...but then it turns the actors skin all green or yellow)

thanks

edit: best would be if theres a way to get like a "window" (I know, in after effects...but I don't have it) to select just near the window then tone it down...
any sort of thing in FCP ?
