ive been interested in some colleges for film and two that im very interested in are santa barbara (UCSB) and santa cruz (UCSC). is anybody here alumni? if you are, how are they? and if you graduated recently, what equipment do they use? any help would be great, or any other suggestions for film schools in california

obviously USC, UCLA, Chapman, so on and so on. Doesn't California have about 1000 film schools?
Go take some tours! Have fun.

What about the Art Institute in San Fran? That's a popular one.

I would recommend, like Prodigy said, to consider USC and UCLA, but don't hesitate to take as many tours as you have time for! College is a big decision. Im going to Full Sail in Orlando right now and I love it...Make sure you will too.
