Collaborative / Remote Editing

I need your help. All my post production is done on final cut pro and my editor is moving away back to the mainland US from Hawaii. I would like to retain him as he freelances since he already knows my format and editing style.

I film in P2, import into fcp and he usually edits from our systems. How can I down res video to ftp to him to edit, and have him email me back the project with completed TV shows? What format should I use? Is there a better way to do this?

I will continue to film the TV series, I just want him to edit for me and email me back the completed projects so I can reconnect the media with the high res files to deliver to the TV stations.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
 
How much footage are you dealing with and what versions of FCP are you both using? Another option is to use the Media Manager to recompress everything to Offline RT HD, ZIP all the files together and send it to the editor w/something like You Send It.
