Cokin P system with DVX?

I used the search function and couldn't come up with a definate answer.

Can you use the Cokin P filter system on the DVX?

With the appropriate adapter (72mm)...it looks like a very cheap way to get filters on the front of this thing.

Please, someone with more expertise let me know if I'm on the wrong planet or am I going in the right direction?

Thanks,

tony

Cokin seem to be looked down on in the glass filter world. I will try them out myself at some point as the xpro or the big ones actualy fit the anamorphic size, but I have got the feeling that they are not the best buy from some of the gurus

What about just the holder? Using other filters, like Lee or whatever.

It just looks like a nice little filter holder for the DVX.

Let me know, thx.

Well, I've got the 58mm version for my GL1. The Cokin filter holder is a nice little thing. It's no matte box, but it lets you use filters. You have to zoom in for the full effect of course and not every filter works with video as well as it does for still cameras, like the speed filter. You can't use lense attachments with it though. The Cokin brand filters are cool though and not all of them are glass, some are plastic/plexi. I have yet to use the filters, but I've got a nice set built up. You may want to keep a screw on UV filter on your camera while using the system because it's really easy to touch the glass of the lense when putting filters in, but then again I have big hands, so this may be different for some. I hope I'm talking about the right thing. ^_^

i recently bought the cokin p-series. it's works fine with the dvx. i see it as a very good alternative to a matte box, at least when it comes to using filters. do screw on a uv filter on your lens though.
