Coding Question

Re: Coding Question

You can also change the background color of a page using javascript (even the currently displayed page), but you'd have to ask someone else how. :) Or Google for a sample script.

I try to avoid using java- or vbscript, since I've heard it causes erectile dysfunction.

So THAT'S what happened. >:(

I suppose the moral of the story is, never work on your web site before going on a date. :(

How about some more details. What happens when you click on one of the links?

Ok, I just looked at your site and the links. They are still pointing to the files with ".mov" extensions. Did you edit the site back to do this? I see you outlined the correct steps in your first comment in this thread. That should work.

Re: Coding Question

Hi Hans

I did try taking out the part mentioned above and it jacked the whole image up (The grids separated). Also, changing the file names in the CFM and in the Folders did not work.

Are you looking at the .DEV site?

Re: Coding Question

Hey John, I was saying to rename media files only when posting them to the forum. the reason why is because people have a tendancy to just keep going back and clicking the file over and over again from the forum when they want to watch it, rather then downloading it once and keeping it on their drive. this is just a way to keep the bandwidth down on your site. so by puting an "x" at the end forces computers to pompt the person clicking onthe file to download to their hard drives, where they can remore the x from the end of the file and play it in theproper player.

for files that will be showcased on your site for people other then dvxusers....dont do the "x" extension. cause you want it to load from the web...to make it easier for people to see your work.

the "X" thing is only usefull when posting work to forums...where potentialy massive amounts of people will be clicking it and sucking bandwidth.

anyway, just FYI. sorry if this is redundant info...it was just soundin like you were going to be dong this for all your media files...

peace dude...the sites comin along nice man!

I looked at the page:

http://www.outlandpictures.com/dev/index.cfm?link=reel

The links still point to the files with the ".mov" extension. I've cut and pasted the portion of the html below. Note the quoted text that follows the HREF tags:

Code:
         <td colspan="2" align="center">
    <a href="movies/dcmv.mov" target="_blank"><img src="images/DCGG.jpg" border=0></a> <img src="images/reelgrid.jpg"> <img src="images/reelgrid.jpg"><br>

            <a href="movies/OPLO.mov" target="_blank"><img src="images/OPLOimg.jpg" border=0></a> <img src="images/reelgrid.jpg"> <img src="images/reelgrid.jpg"><br>
            <img src="images/reelgrid.jpg"> <img src="images/reelgrid.jpg"> <img src="images/reelgrid.jpg">
         </td>

If you change the extensions above to ".movx" and rename the files on your drive so they also have the ".movx" extension then you should be fine.

If the images and grid were messed up when you originally changed things then you might have changed the IMG tags and not the HREF tags.
