Codes for older Avid & Premier Pro?

Howdy all! I find myself in the unenviable position of using two older pieces of software (and hardware) and I just can't seem to get them to play nicely.

In the red corner: an Avid Media Composer, version 2.8.4

In the blue corner: Premier Pro from CS4, running on a MacBook Pro. Current OS is 10.5.8

I'm doing a rough edit in Avid just to get the clips, and then I'm exporting as SAME AS SOURCE to get the .MOV files over to Premier for final editing before I export to After Effects for the last polish. The problem is that when I bring these files into Premier, I can hear the audio, but there's no video.

We've tried grabbing the codecs from the Avid machine and dropping them on the MBP with no luck.

Has anybody got any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Don't grab anything from the other machine. Go to Avid.com and download the free Avid codecs (LE is what they have there). Install the Avid Codecs LE onto your system and try that.

Thanks for the replies, folks. I downloaded and installed the LE codecs and while the .MOV files now play in Quicktime and through Quicklook (hitting the space bar), they still won't play in Premier or show up properly in Media Encoder. I hear the audio, but the video won't play.

I'm reading on other forums that this problem goes away in Premier CS5. I'll keep digging. Thanks, all.
