Codec to create DVCProHD AVI files?

Ok. Here's my situation. I have a Mac 10.4.10 G5 running FCP 6.0 and AE 7.0. I have a client that is asking for a 1080i DVCProHD uncompressed AVI file. Now I looked and found that FCP won't allow you to do this naturally. The only options you get under Export-QuickTime Conversion-AVI are (BMP, Cinepak, DV/DVCPro NTSC, DVCPro50, None) for the most part. Now I went to Avid's website and downloaded their set of QuickTime Codecs, however, that will only give me the option of creating a DVCProHD file using Quicktime. And the company that I will be working with is demanding an AVI file. On Avid's website I found their download for AVI codecs but it was only available for the PC and not a Mac. Is there a AVI codec for the Mac out there somewhere that I don't know about or am I just stuck. The only other work around I can imagine is to creative a Quicktime Animation file and find someone with a HD Avid suite and have them transcode the files but that is distant last resort...

You can't make a "DVCPRO-HD uncompressed" file. The two are mutually exclusive. You can make a DVCPRO-HD file, or an uncompressed file, but not both.

If your client is asking for an .AVI file, they're most likely on Windows. The Mac cannot make a DVCPRO-HD .AVI file, so by default you'd be looking at making an uncompressed Windows file (assuming they have enough hard drive space, etc).

After going through my notes by uncompressed he ment the audio. So what I'm looking for is an AVI file with the DVCProHD codec with uncompressed audio.
Is that possible or will I be forced to make an uncompressed WMV file....or what?
Thanks for the help!

DVCPRO-HD always uses uncompressed audio. So that's not a problem.

Problem is making a DVCPRO-HD .avi from FCP. I don't know for sure but I don't think it can be done. You could output as an uncompressed AVI, or you could output as a DVCPRO-HD Quicktime file (which your friend on Windows couldn't use unless they got the Raylight DVCPRO-HD Decoder program) or, perhaps you could use P2 Maker from Raylight to export an MXF file, and then use Raylight on Windows to create a DVCPRO-HD .AVI file...

In any case, it sounds like you need more info. What specifically do they plan on using this file with, and what software do they have?

Good question. For which I have no answer. I've already given all the info I have. I'll try plugging the client for more information and maybe, just maybe, the solution will present itself. Thanks to everyone who helped with the info.
