Or does vimeo use a secret sauce to convert ALL uploaded content to the same data rate for playback?
ok thanks I am aware of Vimeos 'guidelines', but, some people who should know, have suggested you can achieve slightly better quality when uploading by using a higher quality codec like prores proxy. Just wonder that if in doing so, the 'vimeo converted' content will stream any differently. All videos are processed by vimeo when in the queue. So, just follow the Compression Guideline and you should be good to go from there.
Sounds like superstition to me, of which there is an awful lot in video today. But why don't you upload a couple of short apart from H264/Prores otherwise identical clips, do the comparison and let us know the results?...some people who should know, have suggested you can achieve slightly better quality when uploading by using a higher quality codec like prores proxy...
