Cobra Crane II Plus

I was looking into getting the Cobra Crane II Plus.. just wondering if anyone knows anything about.... opinions, etc. In particular, I was wondering the setup time for one of these badboys and I was wondering if you can vary the length of the arm so it's not always 10ft or whatever it is.... and also how quickly you can do this. I'm all about speed. I need to move fast.
Any comments/suggestions?
Thanks,
Paul

I have a Cobra Crane II Plus. I love it. It only takes about 5 mins to set up. However if you want to change the length you have to take the tilt head off the extension. That could take you ten min. It is well worth the money, if you want you can rent it out for about $100 a day pays for itself in a week. I would just recommend you have a good sturdy tripod, I use the Provista Air 18. Also it does not come with the weights so you would have to get them from you local sporting good store. They are cheap and you will need at least 25lbs to balance the DVX. I bought 3 10lbs weights and 4 5lbs weights. It comes with a 5lbs slider so if you put on 2 ten's and a five, put the slider to the top and you are set. If you would like send me your e-mail address and I will send you PICS of my DVX on the crane. Good Luck Hope you have fun with it, and if you have any other questions let me know!!

Hey Mike,
Thanks for the reply and the pics. Looks awesome... how does the matteblox stuff perform? i was thinking of getting those. i dont see a point to getting the more expensive ones.... aside from a "more professional look." Whatever... if it does the job, who cares? Is there any vignetting with the matteblox? I've gone offtopic, but here's a question about the cobra crane. how's ur tripod head? i know the crane attaches to the head and i heard that isnt a good thing....
Thanks again,
Paul

Whoa that looks sweet! I've been thinking of getting a Cobra I. Just might have to go the extra mile for the II.

First of let me say I love the Cinetatics Matte box. It works perfect and it is a great buy. I have had no problems putting the crane on my tripod head. The only thing I would recommend is to get a second quick release plate, and permanently attach one to the crane.
