Coagulating fake blood

I need to shoot something where people are shown with blood on their clothes over a 6 hour time period. I'd like to have the blood age as realistically as possible. I'd prefer something that I can make myself (due to cost), but buying it isn't out of the question.

If you're making the traditional Karo syrup blood, you can just let it settle for a few minutes without stirring. The 'blood' with thicken considerably.

You might want to add a little extra syrup and let it set for about 30 minutes to an hour in the fridge. Any longer and it'll be pretty well solid.

That is probably airbrush paint or a dye on the clothing so it wont rub off, as opposed to the makeup blood which is syrup and color. Add gelatin to syrup to make it thicker.

for on clothing you can even use acrylics and fabric medium additive. Try spattering it off a paintbrush and try flicking the bristles over your thumb for that fine spatter. Stiff bristles like a toothbrush make lots of fine spatter.

I tried using dye, it works great. Water, lots of red and one drop of green, then add orange and brown depending on how old you want it to look.
