I just got in from a late showing of "Cloverfield".
Let me just say, it was not a bad movie, despite what other ignorant theather-goers ramble about as soon as the end credits roll.
However, my thing is this - Part of the hype for me was seeing a movie shot on 'Handycams' that the actors carried around. There is no way the footage in this film was captured on 'Handycams' (Sony's consumer camcorders). I then found out the budget for the film was $30 million. 99% of the cinematography looked way more advanced and sophisticated than what any of those actors could do, not to mention some of the shots and shooting techniques. Not really the 'Blair Witch" feel at all, which is what I kind of wanted.
Either way, I'm rambling... didn't get the realism I expected from it and certainly not the greatest talent, but a really entertaining 84 minutes. As I was exiting the theater, I noticed my jaw felt slightly dislocated from my skull.
