Closing aperture makes vignetting worse?

Hey all, I've been playing with my HV20 and SGpro, looks amazing, but vignetting has been a slight problem.

It seems to get worse when I close the aperture on the 35mm lens - does this make sense theoretically, or am i imagining it?

Im using canon 50mm f1.4 and a 135mm 2.8

Thanks,
Rich

Well most of the time its fine, its not a huge problem. Apparently in my situation a spacer ring will do very little to help.

I just wonder if a smaller aperture should increase vignetting in theory?

I have the Canon SD550 and the S400. Most of my pictures look like that. I'm not a professional photographer in any way, so I just think those look normal to me.

In theory, a larger aperture (f/1.4 for instance) should increase vignetting while a smaller aperture (f/5.6) should decrease vignetting. That's what I've found when using my SGpro and HV20. I do use a 2" extension tube.
