Close Up Filters?

I just received word from Panasonic that my rebate was sent out this week, so of course I am all ga ga on the EVS site trying to figure out how quickly I can blow $300.
I know the first purchase I am going to make is going to the the 503 head, but I was looking at these: http://www.evsonline.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=72CUS

Does anyone have any experience with the close up filters? Do they really increase the MOD? How effective are they to get that extreme close up, like a single eyeball or tear on a cheek?

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks, all!

Hi Yankee, I'm not sure how those particular Tiffen ones work, but if they work anything like this http://www.evsonline.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=AD7235 which I have in rentals, they will make an incredible image. You will be able to magnify an insect to fill the frame from 3 feet, and there is no distortion, focus issue, or light loss. Depth of Field is VERY shallow though, naturally, so you will have to be very careful when shooting something involving a person. Breathing and a natural human sway will drift the image out of focus. I usually ask them to lean on something or even prop their chin on a stack of books to shoot something like a tear. Good luck

Right on. Thanks for the response Rush. You always give great advice, so I appreciate it. Looks like you're getting my entire rebate check, and I can think of no one I'd rather spend it with.
