Clips have RED bkgrnd color on timeline

Using Vegas Pro 8.0a. Was letting someone edit a project of his. Don't know what he did, but many of his clips on the timeline -- both audio and video -- now have a red or pink background, while the others have the normal white background. I assume he's accidentally changed some setting, but can't for the life of me figure out what it could be. Any ideas???

I've had this and I think it means the drive is offline, or hasn't spun up yet. The bottom line I believe is that the cliips are not loaded. Could be temporary.

Usually in that situation the clips say "Media Offline". At any rate, only SOME of the clips have the pink background, while the others are fine.

For what it's worth, all clips in the project are on the same drive, in the same folder. Nothing's been moved or changed, not even the drive letter. (External USB drive.) The clips play fine, as do all other clips in other projects whose files are on the same external drive.

I've had this happen before, but I can't remember what the circumstances where. It made sense though. You have nothing to worry about

From what I've read on the Sony forums just now (on sonycreativesoftware.com), the pink background occurs when the audio and video are out of synch. Have to check into that.

Yes, it means they're out of synch, even by so much as a sample. Sometimes it's impossible to get them back to white, but it'll still play back fine.

Usually you can fix the problem by right clicking on the audio track and select (Synchrinize by slipping). Synchronize by slipping should fix the sync problem without causing any new problems. As David said, there aere sometimes it just won't sync enough to return to white, but the sync is problem is not enough to be noticable.
