Clipping on radio transmitter

So recording a one take interview with a few different sets of kids, some were much livelier than others. On a few occasions you can hear clipping due to not having the transmitter gain set correctly. When I put the file into Izotope I can't seem to smooth it out. I am a total newbie with RX so not sure i'm dealing with it correctly. Can anyone give me any pointers?

Check out iZotope's RX Cookbook, a great way to work your way through RX:

You can browse, or your can "Search for Recipes" and find articles such as:

How to Fix Audio Clipping
Tools:
De-clip, De-crackle, Deconstruct, Spectral Repair

Description:
Clipping in dialogue recordings is often a consequence of a lack of headroom in the recording equipment. The De-clip module in iZotope’s RX audio repair software is designed to help repair analog and digital distortion by redrawing squared off waveforms.

Clipping is lost data so if it's anything but very light clipping it never really sounds great. Rx is about the best "declipper" I have used but you are still basically trying to take digital super nasty clipping to a more acceptable analog sounding distortion.

Since you clipping may be analog... That is actually harder to "fix" in many cases. With a digital clip you just loose the peaks. The sharp edges of the waveform gives you a really nasty sound. Rounding those edges can often make a big improvement. But analog clipping usually includes a bunch of distortion that is very hard to smooth out.
