Clip restoration of spanned P2 files - A serious BUG

Been working with Edius for a while now, but as I'm coming up on a major hardware reconfiguration I decided yesterday that it was time to test what happens when all the footage files are moved to a new location.

So basically I renamed my footage folder an reopened the project. Now the clip restoration dialog appears, and after a little while of figuring out how that works I managed to relink most of the P2 files. However to my horror, I found that all spanned clips will not relink. I spent most of yesterday evening messing with it, and it seems to be a bug somewhere in the program. There is just no way of doing it!

Apparantly I'm not the only one with the problem:

But the above links where written ages ago. I haven't found anything else since then. Does anyone know the problem, or possibly a solution/workaround.

I consider this quite a major problem for an otherwise nice NLE, but I wouldn't recommend this program to anyone with a P2 workflow if it isn't solved.

Yes. If the path to the files are exactly the same as it was when originally imported they can be relinked, but that's not exactly ideal.

I'm using 4.54 by the way.

Hmm...
hey, i was one of the guys reporting the problem on canopus forum...funny to hear that nothing changed in 4.54...i doubt that anything will happen with the update to 4.6.....i guess its worth it to report it to the bug-list of canopus again, so there might be hope for Edius 5.0

Its simply a bug, and yes, it is annoying...as we are using bigger and bigger cards, it wount show up that often, but this is obvieously no solution...i just opened up a trailer i did 1 year ago, but files where moved...(it was a project shot on 4GB cards, a lot of long interview takes, so you can immagine...!), everything worked perfect DESPITE the spanned clips...!

I found no other "solution" but reimporting those individual clips, and dragging them on the timeline again...that makes you find the right position of course, which isnt that smart...!

So PLEASE Canopus, add this to the bug-report and make it change...despite that i am quite happy right now, as i checked AE CS3 and the AAF-export today for the first time, and even though AE has some problems with titles from Edius e.a., everything else wokrs sweet...curious how the update to 8.02 with native .mxf will work....might be that the spanned clips make trouble over there too...!!

You could be right about the AE workflow. That would seriously suck! Anyway it seems that Canopus has chosen to believe that people would use their import & combine feature.
I have asked this question before, but is there a way to join spanned files without copying everything around. I have 2 TB of data, and I don't want to have to make a copy. But if the files could be joined before importing them into Edius the problem would be solved.
