clip on wireless kits on a budget

Looking into investing into a wireless kit with clip on mics but never worked with clip on mics before so wanted to get some advise on which one to invest in.

I'd be probably looking into spending $400-800, preferably cheaper the better but audio quality would be more important.
I mostly shoot events (with a lot of background noise), so find it very hard to get good audio with my NTG2 unless I'm within one or two feet of the person, and I dont always have the option of being that close so hence the upgrade.

Anybody have recommendations on which kit to get? (will be mainly using it for car show events, weddings & occasional shorts with hpx170).

Thanks in advance!

Sennheiser G3 is generally considered the minimum entry-level pro-quality wireless rig. For events, get the kit with both the bodypack transmitter for when you want to use a lav and the plug-on module that goes on a hand-held dynamic stick mic for interview situations wehre you have an on-camera presenter.

Hey Steve, I'm looking at getting the Sennheiser G3 kit for backcountry use, but I want the MKE-2 Gold lavs instead of the ME-2. Do you know if they sell them with an option to go MKE-2? It seems I only see them listed with ME-2 mics.
