Client Monitor Causes Audio Hum.. Hmmm.???

I know this has been covered a bit in other posts, but I need to understand this a bit more.. I recently tried to use a cheap (Polaroid LCD TV) as a client monitor. When it was connected on location it always introduced noise (a hum) into the audio signal.. We were shooting SD and it was ending up on the tape... So clients lost monitoring while shooting..

I was able to reproduce the hum at my home studio, but I don't think it was as bad.. Even with the monitor unplugged just plugging an Svid cable into the LCD TV (whcih of course was also plugged into the HVX) caused the HVX to have added noise(buzz) in the headphones... This was hard for me to understand?!?! I also tried running the LCD from a battery that supples 110 and got the same problem...

I looked around and didn't see any ground or noise reducer(or elctrical isolator) for svid or component... Only for composite... Which I'd rather invest the extra dollars in good equipment if that would help... If I invest in pro equipment like the panasonic 17" or Marshall 8" can I assume I'm not going to have to battle an unexpected oddity like this? I realize ground loop and AC noise could possibly always be a problem, but with proper precautions it shouldn't.... with an unplugged or battery opperated unit it shouldn't, right???

upon capturing into FCP i realize I didn't hear the noise from the test recordings I did at my studio.. So is it possible that the HVX analog outs are the only thing effected? I can't say for the location shoot, because we didn't have time to trouble shoot.. I just knew if monitor was not connect, I didn't hear humm.. So that's how we shot...

Tx..
