clicking sound

I searched for this topic b/c i have a feeling its common but couldnt find it. I'm getting a soft clicking (or popping) sound on the cuts of video and audio clips within the timeline (the points where they end and begin). oftentimes, i just fade out (or fade in) the audio clip and it takes care of the problem but sometimes it doesn't make any difference; other times, the click happens when the VIDEO clip cuts.

Has anyone experienced this?

Zoom into the Timeline window very close. I bet you have gaps between your clips.

OR you need to Mix Down the audio.

It could also be that your hardware isn't keeping up with FCP very well. What is your hardware configuration, software versions?

The clicking noise is from importing MP3 files instead of converting them to AIFF before you lay the song on your timeline
