Cleveland Weddings

Hello Cleveland! (ok, I'm sure no one's ever done that before :)

I am getting married in Cleveland next year but am from Chicago so know very little about the Cleveland scene, so I figured I'd cry out to my fellow DVX'ers and see if anyone had any advice.

My main concern (as its about the only thing my girlfriend will give me authority over!!) is a band. Any recommendations on good bands for a wedding - I am not the biggest fan of Wedding bands b/c I feel like they all have the same song list, so an ideal band is one who will play the motown and standards, but play some decent rock music that is still danceable... a tall order I know. Above all, no chicken dances or electric slides or country music!!!!!!

Next, videographer and photographer - I don't know how much say I'll have on this, but anyone on the forum who is, or knows anyone, who is good for these jobs, I'd love some suggestions.

thanks all and if anyone needs any like info for Chicago I'd be happy to return the favor.

Hey gregg, cleveland native here and I gotta say... you couldnt have picked a better place. When I moved from Cali to here I was skeptical, but cleveland won me over. The restaurants, the beauty, the city life; all great!
My godmother is the owner of this beautiful tavern out in avon lake and she has a list of motown/rock bands that are simply swesome, without a doubt.
I'll see if I can get some names and pm you with the info as soon as i do.
I dont know much about the surrounding videographers, I have never done a wedding to tell you the truth, only festivals and comedy stand up, commercials and stuff like that.
anyway, hit me up and we can talk some more,
Good Luck,
Jim

Thanks for the info Jim. Whenever you have some specific stuff definitely PM it to me. This is becoming a difficult task finding a band that will play some typical wedding stuff ( I have to appease the older folks) along with some more fun regular music that people actually listen to!

I am from the Cleveland area! But I do not know of any wedding bands. I have some friends in a really good ska/punk band, but I am thinking they are not the wedding type. :)

I have a question for GlimmerGhost. Do you own an HVX? I am looking for P2 cards to rent in cleveland but I seem to be striking out. Industrial Video Off 71 only rents the cards with the camera (arggggggg!) Do you know of a place I can rent?

PS: Bigteeth, is that your future bride in your ''video holiday card''? Haha, she is always leaving you!.... I also liked the benny hill music :)
