Cleaning up interview footage taken at a conference

Hi,

I filmed at a conference and naively thought my shot gun mic and built in microphone on my EX1 would be enough to capture interviews. Unfortunately it wasn't and I am left with many clips where even when I boost the sound of the clip to near peaking, the vocal is still very low in comparison with the crowd noise.

Is this solvable? I have soundtrack pro and would be greatly appreciative if someone could help me with a solution.

Thanks

Olly

There's not a magic fix for the scenario you describe. Garbage in garbage out as they say. Chalk it up to experience and move on. On board mics are generally useless in most environments.

soundtrack pro has some great noise reduction and noise removal.....

it doesnt work mircles but might help

In STP you need to do it in smaller increments and not try and do it all at once. There are other filters that can help and even the 31 band equalizer can help isolate a specific noise. This is true for DINR in Pro Tools as well.

Good luck.
