Cleaning tape help reduce noise ?

Hi ,

I have had the dvx for about a almost a year & I have never used the head cleaner tape - maybe its about time :o

Im wondering if this is link to noise ?
I seem to notice alot more noise on the pic quality lately - could the heads be the problem or maybe my vision has improved ???

Seriously tho - how often should the head cleaner be used & what would cause more noise & digital grain ?

cheers

Also though, noise isn't caused by dirty heads, dropouts are. The noise in your picture is probably due to the gain being on, master pedestal being too high, or something to that nature.

Generally, if your camera is still working fine, then there's no real reason to get it cleaned as far as I know...

Thats weird Benz. I havent noticed any noise in your TEA? Check your settings to make sure something hasnt been 'flicked'

Yeah - its something Im noticing just very recently - I guess its linked to gain or low light patches but I wondered if it was worth using the head cleaner - i guess not tho.
Cheers will check that link - maybe Im just getting a bit analytical or anal about the image quality.

Cheers for info guy's :)

I must admit that was the most concise description of head cleaning a camcorder. It reminds of the daily cleanings I had to perform on the Betacam decks at my old job. Except those drums were so big, I would lay my hand on the open top of the Beta deck and use a full shammy, while rotating the drum with my other hand. Same procedure though. Thanks a lot Barry!!! ;D
