Hello again!
I'm rounding up a crew for my new short films just in time for Halloween. I've yet to find an FX artist to help us out so I'll see if we can work some dvxuser magic in this film. Here's the problematic shot:
THE SHOT
A man gets tackled to the ground by three zombies and has this stomach clawed open. They feast on him while he's doing the bacon dance on the floor. Gory and bloody but with a comedic touch.
THE PROBLEM
Making a realistic shot of a stomach being clawed open and intestines pulled out.
THE MATERIAL
200$, two makeup artists, pints of fake blood, latex, animal parts and a worried actor.
One or two closeup shots of the wound while it's opening and of the intestines being taken out. The rest would focus on the zombies eating and the master would show a wide shot of the victim laying down sideway, legs squirming and covered with zombies throwing intestines and blood in the air. It's excessive, but that's the fun of it!
POSSIBLE SOLUTION
I was thinking of having my actor sucking his belly in to create some space for the fake intestines and covering it up with latex. After drying, I would inject blood in the "intestines pocket" with a syringe. The zombies would then claw the shirt open and at the same time, go through the latex, exposing the insides and making the blood pour while they do so.
I came up with this idea while breaking eggs this morning and it got my girlfriend worried about me. Clearly, one should not casually chat about cannibalism while making breakfast.
THE CALL FOR HELP
So clearly with all those zombies films popping out lately, someone should have run into a similar problem and (hopefully) found a way to make it possible! Let me hear those sick ideas and I'll post a few production shots as soon as we get underway!
