CK93 without the preamp

Does this hyper mic work well without the preamp, or do the two really need to go hand in hand to get great quality sound?

you need the SE300 B body module - if thats what you mean by pre amp You also need phantom power. the CK93 is just a cap that attaches to it. You can also run these caps with an active cable.
