Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if these reviews have already been posted, but most of I've read has mixed results. I wanna buy a portable hard drive but I'm confuesd as to which one I should go for. The citidisk seems cheaper but there are not too many good reviews about, the firestore seems to be the popular choice but it does seem to have a lot of glitches too. Can you experienced users give some recomendations based on your experience with the two gadgets.

Lastly, the citidisk doesn't support mxf files but rather AVI2.... I'm a vegas user, does vegas support the citidisk formats??

jimks,
For me the FS-100 is rock solid. I have had no problems with it what-so-ever. The only issue I had with it was the result of me being stupid and not following proper proceedures. In fact that may the primary reason for negative comments about the Firestore... people not following the guidelines for operation set out in the owner's manual.

I hope this helps.

The "gliches" in the FS-100 are not FS-100 specific, but HVX specific, namely the really bad 4-Pin FW port.

FYI, I tested the FS-100 with my old DVX100a and the FW port seems to be more solid than the one on my HVX. Thus I conclude that not only is a 4-pin FW port crap, but the specific one used in making the HVX is extra flimsy. Panny, why? Just tell us why?

Thanks guys, I think my decission is made........FS-100 it is! I agree Benb, the fw port is really crap. I've had lots of diconnections with dvrack while shooting in controlled enviroments, I wonder what it's like to shoot run & gun style with that flimsy fw port. How do you guys secure the firewire connection? any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

I do RnG two ways. My fav is with the DV Multi Rig Pro. I mount the FS-100 to it and velcro strap the cable to the rig. If I go purely hand held, I'll mount the FS-100 under the camera in a Bebob Box FS. And strap the cable to the side of the Box FS.
