CitiDisk reviews???

Hello,

Has anyone here used a CitiDisk for their HVX200 cameras and recorded HD footage. I heard there were some problems when the unit was intially introduced. Has Procon corrected those issues? Anyone here own a CitiDisk and use it with their HVX200 cameras? Any problems? I like the firestore, but am more interested in the price (and the fact that you can record 120 gigs as opposed to 100) on the CitiDisk recording device. Can you record on MXF files on the CitiDisk yet?

thanx,

Omar

CitiDisk really seems MIA. I have been promised a unit to review since NAB 2006. I am still waiting. I, as well, would love to hear from any current CitiDisk users to see what their experiences might be. Honestly, I had not even thought about it until your post.

I had one late last year/earlier this year

I had one late last year/earlier this year

for a couple of months. Unfortunately, it was around the holidays, we had a houseful of relatives staying with us, and I had to let it sit for about 2-3 weeks without being used. I tried to put it through its' paces.
You can find the (very lengthy) review I wrote of my experience with it here:
http://www99.epinions.com/ProCon_CDHD_80_CITIDISK_HD_80_GB_DVR_CDHD80_2

After re-reading it, I realize I ramble a bit, but hope it helps.

BTW, Procon only markets them; Shining is the importer, and, I think has strong ties to the manufacturer, who's somewhere in China.

Now that CinePorter is dead, this could be a viable (and less expensive) option/alternative to Firestor, if they could only make it a little more stratighforward to use. An LCD display would be easier to work with than the assorted combination of on/off/blinking lights.
