Part 1 of a 3 part series, the HV20/HV30 shoot guide is up. We go over how to set up this camera for best results with the Brevis35 MP.1 imaging system. There's also a technique to look at the HV20/30 metadata which is saved on tape, but cannot be viewed with the camera. Chris left a blooper in there for your enterainment :)

This is the second in a series of shooting guides (the first was for the EX1) designed to help shooters get the best possible footage from our imaging system.

so what happens when you don't have access to a cam that will show u the data on the tape? Do you just turn the exposure down an just kinda guess?

you don't really need an a1 camera to know when there is 0 gain. When the aperture number begins changing as you reduce the exposure, then gain is no longer there.

That's correct. If you adjust the exposure and you don't see aperture changing, then you know you're in a gain situation. We just tossed the tape in the XH-A1 to demonstrate how much gain the HV20 actually dialed in. Our best results have been with the camera between f4 and f5.6.
