Cinevate's Equipment Cases have arrived..

Cinevate has always shipped its 35mm adpaters in various molded, super tough, watertight cases. After many requests from our customers, we spec'd out two larger cases more or less timed with our announcement as an official Zeiss lens provider. The largest case has 7 easy-release latches, 3 layers of pick and pluck foam, wheels and retractable tow handle. As you might expect, it's watertight and designed for a lot of abuse. This case is sized to accept a fully rigged EX1-sized camera on our 60cm Proteus carbon rails, including lens and mattebox. The second smaller case will be up in our catalog tomorrow.

A few features we consider unique to these cases:

- 7 press and release latches
- 3 handles on 3 sides of the box
- full length reinforcements protecting each latch from side impacts.

Nice case. The Price is a bit high. Storm makes a case of similar build and same dimensions for 194.00

Is this one better?

A brief search showed a storm case of similar size selling from $209 to $350 depending on whether it was empty, or foam provided.

Based on a look at that case and comparing: We have 7 easy release latches, not 5, and considerably more reinforcement at the latch and hinge areas. If you look at our box it has full length flanges protecting the critical areas (including all 7 latches) meaning it is extremely difficult to ever damage even on a typical airport luggage system. Neither the Storm or Pelican cases feature this. If anything, it's over-engineered but as far as we were concerned, well worth the extra weight.

Note also the three handles at side, top, and bottom. From what I can see, the Pelican and Storm cases only have one handle. We feel the case offers outstanding value given its feature set.

Let, international orders would have to go fedex express as ground is not an option. That said, our rates are excellent and include brokerage fees. You can create an order without checking out to see what the calculated rate will be.

Cheers,
Dennis.

I know that this has been talked about before, but the Cinevate shipping costs to the US stop me over and over again from ordering single items from you guys.

A small case for about $50? Okay, I could think about that.
A small case for about $50 that will cost me over $100 to actually get it to my door? No thanks.

I'd buy all kinds of things here and there if there were reasonable shipping options to the US

Not to worry on shipping costs. These would be going fedex ground for less than half of that cost to the US. We're just working things out with fedex so that their ground service incorporates brokerage paid in advance (by us). This is a constant problem with shipments that go ground as they get held up by Fedex Ground calling the customers to confirm brokerage, and then charging a fee for it. You'll see an option online in a few days for ground shipping as we incorporate the shipping option code to our ecommerce site. Shipping will continue to raise it's ugly head as fuel costs continue to rise. In Canada, a litre of fuel is $1.30 ... that's over $5 a gallon US.

These issues disappear when usign Fedex Express, and on smaller packages is definitely the better way to ship. Most folks assume we're in the US...but we're not.

Hi dennis,
I've read Cinevate is now a Zeiss lenses reseller, but I can't find any link on your catalogue.
Thanks!

Minh, that's correct. We'll add the Zeiss lenses in the catalog as soon as we have actual stock :-)

Btw, the fedex ground shipping option has been made to the site and seems to be working fine. Fedex ground rates to the US on the larger cases should be about $35 to $40.

The same outfit doing our shoulder-rig pads, has also worked extensively with the Canadian military doing custom packs. We'll be adding a pack option (quick release) to the large cases to allow carrying the box like a frame back-pack. This would allow you to travel with it in typical fashion, but once arrived, attach the frame/harness and walk away with both hands free. Just curious on what you guys think of this?

Do you know when you'll have the lenses in stock then?
And any plans for extra foam set for the equipment cases? (just asked in last post)
Thanks
