Cinevate Vs. Zacuto rail system...

I'm in the same boat. I've used the Petroff and Chrosziel systems extensively. The Petroff is universal which is really nice.

How is the Redrock version? It doesn't have up/down, left/right does it?

I've been working with a Zacuto system for my HVX200 for a couple of years and am a huge fan. I think it's one of the best investments I've made. It's solid and versatile.

I'm getting ready to make the rails (and shouldermount) plunge too. Going zacuto for its versatility. Seems to be the best design and best manufacturing of them all and the ability to go handheld to tripod quickly is priceless for me. The only downside is of course the cost... oh well its only money :)

I had a chance to play with the Zacuto plate a while back and found that the rods were a little stiff to slide into their slots - definitely not as precise as the Chrosziel stuff.

Maybe it was an earlier version of the plate - Has anyone found this?

Are you using non-Zacuto rods, Barry?

I've got a mongrel set-up but main plate / rods are Redrock, I do have a Letus riser with 4" Zacuto rods on it though and everything fits fine. Everything I have fits the Zacuto rods and everything fits the Redrock rods.

I am actually considering some Zacuto add-ons at this time, namely another set of rails and a Zamerican arm. I was skeptical too but after seeing the products first hand at NAB, I was sold. It literally is the top of the line stuff.

I actually don't own anything right now. I've been renting mainly the Petroff system for years and have used the Chrosziel systems as well.

With the advent of the Redrock Mattebox though I might finally purchase something and I'll need a baseplate to put it on. I'm mainly shooting HVX with no adapter but universality is definitely the key.

How do you find the Redrock support? From what I've been able to gather you need the shim kit to shim the camera to various heights? How is the alignment when you're not using a 35mm adapter?
