Cinevate Unleashes DSLR shoot rigs.

With the growing number of our customers wanting a rails system that works both for their video cameras/adapter rigs...and their DLSR cameras, Cinevate did what we always do and put together a shoot package for this application. The system is based on our virtually indestructible Proteus solid carbon fibre rails system which come in 30, 45, 60 and 100cm (think teleprompter!!) lengths. These patend pending systems are capable of supporting a DSLR camera as well as virtually any video camera rig whether it's an HV20 with a mattebox or a full HPX500 with our 2/3" Brevis adapter rig. You'll see that we provide the ability to mount rails behind you as our 12V 10Ah smart power unit is in production and coming in the next 4 weeks or so. This is designed to not only provide effective counter-balance, but also to power our upcoming 720p native resolution HD monitors up front.

We're biased of course but given our price point and the huge popularity of these rails system with our customers, it's safe to say you'll never need another rails system in your lifetime. If that's not enough, Cinevate's 19mm carbon systems for cameras like the RED are right around the corner featuring many interchangeable Proteus components. Our remote focus controller and true 720p HD monitors are coming this summer so if you're wondering why that rear counter-balance looks so much like a 12V power supply...now you know :-)

Our growing Cinevate Video University of course has been updated with a video overview of the system entitled " The Canon 5D MkII on roids! "

Cheers,
Dennis Wood

Wow

Wow

Nice price - Most of the other rigs I see end up costing more than the camera istself!
The proteus cage seems a little bulky but for the rest, I think it would be perfect for a GH1 indie kit!
I like your 'over the shoulder' system - Good stuff

Very cool, Dennis, looks like something from Road warrior, it reminds a little of the PAG ORBITOR design, which i liked a lot, good counter balance weight options, but please explain is the cage really needed. I too am thinking of GH1 for B roll on our docs.
Cheers

The cage is completely an option..and in fact is not part of the standard kit we've put together. The steadicam guys prefer the cage with the 5D however as it adds just the right amount of weight for Flyer use, protects the cam, and of course provides a support for hand held use. The cage's optional top clamps also allow mounting anything from a Macbook, mixer, digital audio recorder, lights or even our 15mm rails up top to. Our follow focus can be used upside down or side mounted so the cage alternatively offers right/left or top mounted 15mm rods mounting. In essence you're creating your own cage. The Proteus rails system is akin to "lego for film-makers" with countless options for configuration.

We do have a very cool new (smaller) cage design coming for the smaller cameras based on a pile of field feedback from our sponsored shooters.

Cheers,
Dennis.

The matte box also looks cool. Seems to be adjustable to just any camera out there. How many stages does it have? I need a 3 stage system, basically because DSLRs don't have internal NDs and suffer from aliasing and IR noise. So 2 and up to 3 stages are easily occupied just to control some deficiencies of the actual DSLRs.

Hi Dennis. ETA on this smaller cage?
And how much space does the bottom of the proteus cage take up that connects to the rods?

As promised, the DSLR XY offset is finished field testing and now included as part of our DSLR rig. This addition allows up to 7 inches or so of offset left or right and the ablity to adjust the camera rails height +- 1.5 inches. It also allows you to lock the removeable shoulder component at any angle for shooting from the shoulder, hip or as a ground support. We just finished a crazy two days shooting with Patrick, Konrad and Michael from Stillmotion as part of the promotion for the new kit. I won't say much now other than it was a lot of fun, Michael was shot several times with projectiles at 200 mph, and one Steadicam flyer with our full rig ended up in two pieces after a "mishap". I should say that our DSLR rig and Titan mattebox took the hit and were used for the balance of the shoot :-)

If you stay tuned over the next week or so, you can expect a launch of the new DSLR rig, free stuff, and "Medusa" + "Atlas"...two things you've never seen before.

Charles, you'll be most interested in "Medusa" with regard to your question :-)
