Hey guys and girls, new DVX100A owner here...can anyone tell me, do we need extra software like Cinetools to create film look with our camera?  If so, let me know because I have a deal to get a copy of my own.

Nope!
You don't need something like that.

You just need to play around with the camera settings and good lighting. This is based on what others have said, because I am still learning myself.

24p is going to give you a very filmic look. But that is not the end all solution; it wil lalso depend on how you are as a DP.

check out www.digitalfilmtools.com for a variety of plugins. I will add that they are not cheap but the look is very effective. There is a Music Video called California in the Screen Grabs section that they used digital film tools plug in "55mm filters" Check the video out and you can see for yourself how much it looks like film.
