To Michael : thanks for the rebate ! I'm interested but I thought some parts (maybe the oversize French flag) were on backorder until mid-April, which is why I haven't placed my order yet.

We have the Oversize French Flag in stock. The only part our system that is of stock is the 100x100/4x4 Double Filter Holders. We will have them in around mid April. The special does not include any filters, but if you want them when they become available, I can get them to you for no extra shipping if you contact me directly using our contact page on our web site.

We are not ready to announce the exact date of the arrival of our LA-7200 compatible Matteblox yet. The first prototype should arrive in a week or two. As soon as we have something to show we will let you guys know.

regardless of when it comes out, are you able to say if it will be compatible with the oversized french flags you are selling now? meaning, if i buy the french flag this month is it going to be useless in a couple months? thanks!

And another question, while we're at it : even though I'm sure the whole thing holds securely in place, what happens when shooting outdoors in windy conditions, with the Matteblox and its flags being (I assume)... "semi-rigid" ?

P.S.: Greg, thanks for the info email on shipping to France. I'm seriously considering it.

The Cinetactics Mattebox will work with my Century .7 wide angle lens? I looked at the matrix on your site and I got the impression that it was not compatible with that lens.

If it works then I will buy. No way am I gonna shell out the cash for those insanely expensive matte boxes. Hell, I just bought the Nikon D70 camera and it is cheaper than a matte box with rods. How the hell these companies can get away with charging over $1,000 for something that blocks light is simply amazing.

It will take a lot of wind to distrub our Matteblox. The plastic panels inside the Matteblox are very stiff and should not flop at all. The 72mm Threaded Adapter provides a very secure mounting. I can't guarantee it will hold in a hurricane. We will have to do some wind tunnel tests someday, that would be fun.

Our Matteblox should work with the Century .7x Wide Angle Lens (VS-07CV-DVX). Our compatibility page needs some updating. The detail that is missing is that you have to mount the Matteblox on the lens near the bayonet ring rather than the front. This also means that you will probably have to put the Matteblox on the lens before mounting the Lens on the camera. The challenge and the reason that our compatibilty page lists that lens as not compatible is that the Matteblox does not fit on the front of the lens (which is the spec we used to create this list). The page needs another icon or column to indicate how to mount the lens in these situations. I hope this clears all this up. We should get around to updating the compatibility page one of these days.

The Oversize French Flag for the larger Matteblox will be much bigger than the Oversize French Flag for the current Matteblox. The current Oversize French Flag will not be compatible with the larger Matteblox. Maybe there will be a way to sort of stick it on the side, but the anamorphic lens is so big that the only part is will share with the current Matteblox will be the ability to hold the 100x100mm/4x4" Double Filter Holders.

I know I visited the matteblox compatibility page at one time and it listed the Century Optics .6x lens adapter (VS-06WA-DVX) as compatible. Now it says it isn't. Which is it? I was about to purchase, but guess I had better wait.

Century Optics .6x lens adapter (VS-06WA-DVX) is compatible, but our Matteblox must be mounted on the neck of the lens, near the bayonet lock. The front of the lens is just a little too big for our Matteblox to fit comfortably over; this means that you will probably have to mount the Matteblox on the lens before mounting the lens on your camera. Although; you will be able to remove the Matteblox without removing the lens, so it is in theory possible to do the reverse, but in practice it is not easy to stretch the four tabs of the Matteblox at once around the lens end. We need to make a note of this on the compatibility page on the next update.
