Why do some videos shot with the Cinemek G35 adapter show grain while other videos shot with the G35 adapter show no grain whatsoever? for instance, these videos shot with the Cinemek G35 show obvious grain:

http://www.vimeo.com/2511039

But, these videos shot with the cinemek G35 don't have any grain in them whatsoever:

http://www.vimeo.com/4380663

And in this video, there is no visible grain until they film inside the subway station:

What gives?

What you are seeing in these videos is "gain". The adapter itself has no grain. Also, by principle that it is a static adapter, IF you were to see grain, it wouldn't buzz around like moving adapters grain.

Thanks, JHouser. I wasn't sure if it was the adapter or something else. So, pretty much what you are saying is, once you get to the point where there isn't enough light, the gain kicks in giving it a grainy look?

Exactly. Now there are older versions of the adapter which do show static grain now and again, but those are all beta units sold more than 3 years ago. Anything with a serial number on it is good to go.
