Does anyone have the American Society of Cinematographers Manual? I was looking to get it, and I was wondering if it would be a good resource for someone looking to learn the different techniques of lighting and so on. Is it primarily a refernce for those shooting on Film? Or would it also apply to someone using a dvx100a? Thanks!

Also, I don't know where you live but we're shooting 2nd Unit on Saturday with guest George Dibie, ASC. He's always quick to meet and halp anyone serious about cinematography so if you're in the Los Angeles area, stop on by the set at Lite Panels factory on Burbank Blvd at Vineland Ave in North Hollywood. George virtually wrote the book.

But it's a compillation of useful data, and much more useful as a reference than as a learning method. It's not your common textbook, since you can only use it, if you already have some background knowledge. Said that. It's worth every penny, and you will probably own one someday.

Cheers!

Thanks! Anybody have any suggestions for any books on cinematography for someone just starting out? thanks again!
