Cinematographers (DP's) Contacts

I have an assignment to do for college and I have to contact professionals (or people with experience) on my topic.

Question: Is it worth going to film school to learn cinematography or is it better to learn everything on set?

I am live around the Toronto-Niagara Falls region. And I wanted some contacts from experienced people locally so hopefully I can conduct an interview in person.

Which DP be good to contact for my interview locally?
What about non-locally?*

*My favorite DP is Janusz Kaminski because he has worked on many big films and worked with Steven Spielberg. And he is a Polish DP. I am Polish and I want to be a DP. So, I HOPE I can do an interview with him by phone.

This has been discussed many times.

One can not possibly argue that an education in one's field cannot be beneficial. The decision to go to film school is a very personal one and there is no right or wrong way to achieve one's dream. Many factors are very important such as the quality of the education, the cost of the education, and the caliber of students who are also attending.

I think it is mildly humorous and ironic that your college assignment is to basically vindicate or nullify the usefulness of it's existence.

Actually, you get to choose you own topic question.
I know it has been talked about a lot, but I guess im still going to be asking that question and see what those with professional experience have to say.
Personally, I hate it. Sure I learned some things. Got a contact or two. But, worth the thousands paid each year? No.
