Ok so by that I mean changing the levels on your film to ive it a more cinematic effect, first of all i have no idea how to do it and would like to how to.

Also once I got them effects how would I use them would i'm import my hole movie into AE then alter it then export again for AE ?

Sorry i'm a noob and want to learn more.

If you use Premiere Pro it's easy. Import your whole project file into After Effect. If not, then you'll have to render out the whole thing uncompressed and edit in AE.

Changing the level of your video means moving the black input (output?, I don't remember exactly which one at the moment). It adds more contrast to the video (crushing the black). But keep in mind that this alone will not make the video look like film. It's a supplementary tool only.

The quickest thing is to do a levels or curve effect. This will let you bring in the black and white ends of the image and to tweak the mid tones up and down depending on what you need.

Just bear in mind that film has strong blacks and whites, but also the great range of greys in between and if you start playing with the levels like this then you could lose the detail in the shadow.

Levels or curves is an AE thing, but you'll probably find that Premier has them as well.

what about color finesse. will that be a better solution to use for colors

is this what magic bullet editor does. im waiting for my rebate to come in

Color Finess is a nice tool if you know what you're doing. If you're new to color correction/grading it won't be much help at all. I'd say the first thing to do is get a book on color theory and read some tutorials on the net.

Magic Bullet for editors might be a better solution if you don't want to deal with all the complexities of color work. It gives you some preset 'looks' that are immediately ready to apply to your video.

I found messing with the gamma in the exposure gives off a pretty cool look almost like a cinematic look too it..... staying with the levels is your best bet to do.

FIrst I want to ask you that, are you aware about the color theory and all? If no, than first read some gret tutorials and stuffs which you can find by Google as it will really help you.

Now, just play with curves and levels as it will help you to get some sharp, detailed look.

You can use "Magic Bullet" suit. You can use presets of it or just play with some controls and get what you want.
