cinemanow?

Rich Lee

I shoot Pirates.
anyone else try this?

its kinda cool. i downloaded close encounters and the quality isnt too bad at all. too bad watching a movie in the computer room is so uncomfortable.

anyway, its good stuff...cant wait for cable companies to offer this sort of thing...the day when we can cruise around a library of every movie and watch them with a click of a few buttons will be totaly bitchin.

Re: cinemanow?

Imagine the possibilites for independent filmmakers. Distribution of films will be just a click. Or more distributors will take the risk financing an indie film if distribution is cheap.

Thank you ;)

Re: cinemanow?

Taking PK's comments even further, they could totally have a feature called Indie of the Day. And just do a new, random low budget flick featured each day. So you could randomly get tons of free publicity.

Re: cinemanow?

it will be interesting times....

i was talking with a vfx supervisor on a film i was working on. we talked about how films always just hardly make the deadline before they are released...he was saying that soon, because of digital projections, and theaters and studios having super high speed access to each other...that there will be times when they will be finishing films just minutes ahead of the first people seeing it, even goin as far as finishing the movie while they are watching, keeping just ahead of where the audience is watching. crazy days ahead...

Re: cinemanow?

Wow... I would say "It's a crazy time to be in the industry" but it occurs to me that it's always a crazy time to be in the industry. Something new is always going on.

Re: cinemanow?

I hope it dosen't get too crazy. I kinda like things the way they are. Call me old fashion. I still wear old school pumas.

Re: cinemanow?

I heard that Lucas finished TPM so soon before release that there were actually two slightly different cuts released depending on when they were shipped to theaters.

Oddly, I think both cuts sucked equally (the differences were incredibly minor)....

Btw, Rich Lee...are you working on the new Arnofsky film? How's that going? He's a great director and I love good sci-fi/fantasty (basically, Star Wars), but it looks a little on the weird side.

Re: cinemanow?

hey policar, nada...i worked with DA on the first version of that sci fi movie. before they were shut down. all the stuff we did for them is still good so they are still using it, so thats cool. its a wierd movie, but in a good way...should be extremly beautiful to look at.
