The BMC sample files?

There are some comments on importing and transcoding for various applications in the discussion at EOSHD.

I am not an FCX user, so I better leave it at that before I muddle it!

Post again your thoughts on the files if you work with them. It is one interesting piece of the "what next" puzzle for us.

I just looked at them in Photoshop yesterday and did some grading there.

Best,

I've been working with the DNG's in FCPX but I'm processing the RAW in Lightroom 4. It's quite easy. Here is my workflow and if you are used to shooting still RAWs it will come naturally to you: (This took longer to type than it took to edit the brawley footage when I posted this over at BMCuser). It's just a workflow for now and I feel Apple will update FCPX to cater to the camera. (Although I might stick with this workflow as I'm at home in lightroom for making the primary adjustments):

Import your folders into LR (easy), just drag your BMDC folders to the LR icon from the stored location.
Pick a shot to use for the color correction. Apply your corrections then select all images and sync the shots. when done, export that folder to where ever you want to store the color corrected shots. Save them as TIFFs, DNG's whatever. I'm using 16bit TIFF exports.
DO this to all your takes. The only lengthy process is your exporting LR grades. If you go heat up a burrito and make a margarita, by the time you get back you should be done.

OK, lets take them color corrected folders into FCPX.

Easy, Import the folders into FCPX and make sure to import using keyword collections. Simple enough.
There they are. No converting into prores or Cineform, You will be editing the TIFF files.

Now lets get these folders to play back realtime!!!
This is the most important step.
All your shots should be in their own KEYWORD COLLECTION FOLDERS.
Click on of them and you will see all the still photos. IMPORTANT. Select all in the EVENT and make a COMPOUND CLIP IN THE EVENT. Now, double click that compound clip and it will open in in a timeline as individual stills. Select all of those images and retime them using CONTROL D and change the duration to 1 FRAME. (select all, control D, type 1, enter). THe beauty is now the EVENT COMPOUND CLIP is ready for realtime playback, and ALL CHANGES are now living in the EVENT BROWSER. Lovely!!!! Whats even more lovely is that if you have a sound file recorded IN the camera you can now attach that to the compound clip and everything will live in the event browser!!!

Here is some footage using this method:
<span style="color: rgb(249, 249, 249); ">
And here is a sample where I used lightroom to make the initial primary color correction then applied the STOCK filters or the color board in FCPX. I have plug-ins, but I wanted to keep it STOCK built in.
