i have a problem. i have final cut pro and i have been shooting my footage in 24p normal. i would like to do reverse telecine but it appears that i chose not to install cinema tools before i knew any better and i can't just use my fcp install disc because it was a torrent (oops) and i deleted it. damn. anyways, does anyone have any other way to reverse telecine, is there a free plugin or utility or something? any advice would be appreciated. please don't preach to me about stealing software, i am a poor college student.

Serves you freaking RIGHT!!!

But at least you're stupid enough to publicly admit it for Apple to come after you. Poor college student my butt. You're not poor enough to have a computer? You're not poor enough to have a DVX? You're not poor enough to WANT...

Buy the academic version. It's 10 days of beer. Or was when I was drinking. Don't preach to me??? Ass... don't come here whining about problems when you freaking take food out of other's mouths.

it worked flawlessly batutta. thanks much.

CaptainMench, you must work in software development or something. Give me a break, I worked and saved for every penny to buy my DVX and computer, and I have to pay for housing and tuition, if I can cut a few corners and save $1200 on Final cut studio I will. There is no way I'm going to be able to use my DVX and computer to earn some of that money back if I'm working with Windows movie maker or some sh*t. I started this topic to ask advice, if you don't have any, don't bother posting.

Don't mind Mench, he's always like that.

Do mind Mench, especially when he's right.

I don't work in the software development industry but I do have creative material that people can purchase. I take offense to anyone who would take that without paying for it. You should use iMovie if you want something to edit with.

I also have an NDA with Apple - and thru that direct contact with different development teams, so I sent your email at yahoo off to them. I doubt they'll 'not mind Mench'.

Good luck to you.

Jeez.

Dude...Avid Media Composer is $300 for students. FCP Academic is $700. When I was in college, there wasn't ANY NLE available to us students on a personal basis. We had to edit at the school. Heck, we didn't have cameras available to us, we borrowed the schools.

When you are a starving student, you plan accordingly. So you can't buy the expensive Mac AND the expensive camera. You have to get by with something until you can buy it. Spread your resources to cover all bases. And as I said, Avid academic is cheap (and still a huge industry standard), and FCP academic is cheap too.

Or better yet, don't do it all yourself. Film making is a collaborative art. Find someone with FCP to edit your movies. Or you be the editor and have someone shoot it. For the LONGEST time...as a working professional editor...I spent all my money on my editing gear, and my camera was a cheapy Panasonic camcorder. When I needed a good camera, I borrowed or rented one. Until I could afford a good one.

Now...all that being said. Ahem...I too pirated FCP. I started with FCP 2 (from some site), then upgraded to FCP 3 when a friend bought it. I used this to learn the system...just like you. But I just fooled with it. Edited some family home video and stuff. When I started to get jobs to earn money, I bought FCP 4.5. But when I did have an illegal copy, and things didn't work...I didn't ADMIT to it in a public forum...or gripe when it didn't work properly. That is what we get for doing the torrent thing.
