Cinely - a social network of sorts that helps filmmakers find their next film crew

Hey guys,

A little bit of self-promotion here, hopefully I'm not breaking any rules. I run a blog called Cinemabyte and just the other day got to interview the CEO of a website called Cinely.

I thought you guys would find the service to be pretty neat. Say you're looking for an animator because you want to dabble in animation. You start a Cinely account and, using the site's tools, search for animators in your area. You then sift through the results, checking out the different animators that meet your query and getting a look inside their portfolios.

Personal note: I'm in no way affiliated with Cinely. I did this interview because I personally wanted to know more about the site. You guys should check it out too!

Here's the interview. This link will take you straight to Cinely.

I think you'll see more and more of these narrowly focused social media sites as opposed to the big general FB site.

Definitely. Facebook has become much too broad, especially for artists. Myspace at least had plenty of focus on music and discovery.

I think we'll see more efforts like Cinely in the future tackling different aspects of filmmaking, and other art areas in general.

I think there's going to be a social media site for most activities like sailing, golfing, cosplay, cooking, whatever the interest may be instead of cramming everything onto facebook.

I'd argue that reddit fits a lot of those niches, given that anyone can make a subreddit for just about any topic. But for some, reddit might not be personal enough to be referred to as a social network.

Reddit is not it. I looked and it's a mess. I checked out "sailing" and it was looking looking at vomit from Craigslist, definitely not a refined social media experience.
