cinefx Freeware Software supposedly at After Effects Level

Hello.

I stumbled across this site http://www.cinefx.org/cinefx /m The software cinefx is freeware and is supposed to be capable of creating special effects at the level of Adobe aftereffects.
Does anyone here know anything about this software? Is it good, does it work, is it legitimate at all?

I downloaded the software but ran into problems with the installation. When I tried to register using the sites wordpress program for help, it said that I have to contact my service provider about allowing php or something?

Any and all info I can on this program is a must! There is supposed to be an older version somewhere. Does anyone know anything about this at all?

please help. Thanks.

From the website, it is a media player, not compositor/animation package.

Not a threat to AE.

I was able to do more research. The cinefx is an updated version of a program called jashaka. (you can get a free download of jashaka from cnet.) cinefx and jashaka BOTH have editing capabilities and claim to have features similar to Aftereffects.
What I believe you are referring to is cineplay. Which is a media player that converts all files into flash. Very good and useful program if you do multimedia stuff like I do.
Jashaka is a lit tle on the hard side to use but I came across these excellent tutorials at http://www.vimeo.com/2924170 if anyone else in here is interested in learning this program let me know and maybe we can work something out. Two heads (or more) are better than one.

Perhaps about 7 years ago, ok, maybe 8 years ago, I was interested in Jashaka... but it never materialized in any usable form by me. I recall the project being revived within the last year, after the project leader had 'sold' the project to the cine<whatever> group, and then decided that group was not doing anything with the project...

But it seemed pretty dormant even then.

Unfortunately, for the most part, other than Blender, the Open Source video projects all have either done a nosedive, or just bumbled along.
