Cineform Sony NEX support?

Hi guys,

These days I've been doing mostly still photo but occasionally I still do some video. The files from the Sony NEX cameras are a pain to deal with on Premiere CS5 so I've downloaded a Neo Scene trial to see if it could make my life easier...but when I've opened the program to convert the files and selected the folder where the NEX files were I could see they didn't seem to be supported.

Can anyone confirm this? It would really be a shame because the NEX-5N and the NEX-7 are great for shooting high quality video.

My FS100 shoots AVCHD too and I just simply use the media browser in ppro to import the clips without transcoding. It automatically joins a bunch of 2 gig chunks into one clip as well. Is the video from your NEX totally different?

As far as I know the FS100 and the NEX-5 produce the same type of files. I can import them to premiere fine, but the format it´s not the smoothest to edit. Cineform would really hit the spot....even though I´m not sure it would help much during export time.

What is so special with these files. There is only but one type of AVCHD. Neoscene converts .mts files.

Read what Kylevant wrote....David Newman confirmed that Neoscene DOESN´T support AVCHD yet.

No, GoPro Cineform Studio doesn't support AVCHD yet. Neoscene does, but it may have not been updated to handle the Nex5n's files.

I've just tried the Neoscene trial and it DOES support the NEX files...even though after I convert them to avi the only program that seems to be able to open them is premiere. I've tried opening them with media player classic, vlc, windows media player and all say the file is not supported. I've also tried around 5 different video converter programs to convert it to MKV for viewing on my
HDTV but all the programs said the file was not supported.

Is there a plugin I need to install in my system so that it will play cineform avi files?

If Neoscene is installed you do not need to install Neo player. Many players do not support CF.avi files, such as the vlc player. WMP supports CF.avi's so does the Bridge.
Did you restart your machine before and after installing Neoscene?

Exactly. Both MPC and WMP should both play the files.
