Cineform, DNxHD, or?

Hi,

I've got a Canon 550D and I'm using Vegas.
Of course native files are useless.

I tried DNxHD:

Not fluid, wrong colors (both in 709 or RGB) and big files.

I tried Cineform:

Fluid, files aren't too big, but color range is not 00 255.

I nearly wanted to buy the expensive cinefor codec, but the color problem is anoying me.

Is there another solution, a fast as cineform, but with the possibility to keep original color range?

You could give DVFilm Epic I a try. It allows realtime editing in Vegas 9/32bit right now though they are working on a 64bit version. You don't have to transcode like Cineform or Mpegstreamclip and you can start editing immediately.

The program works by building epic files in the background for your h.264 quicktimes in Vegas. You can switch back to your original h.264 files whenever you want with a click of a button.

I might add that Epic has a 10-bit YUV mode and so that is as close to the original color as you can get. If there is a conversion to RGB it's being done by Vegas itself and you can tweak it by using a track effect levels control and get any range 0-255, if you want, without loss of quality
 
Thanks, I tried it, but same results.
the only full color range picture I've got in Vegas is the original file.

All the others are TV range.

Except this problem, I prefer Cineform because it's more convenient and faster not only in vegas, but on anything else (like mediaplayerclassic).
So if anyone knows how to get 00 255 color range with Cineform, let me know...
 
Yeah cuneiform converts 5d videos to limited range, no idea why but easy to fix with a studio-confuter video levels. Since the codec is 12bits we shuld be fine. You can try writting to cuneiform and ask them to change the encoding settings or at least let us change to full range encoding.
The good thing about cineform is that it fixes the gamma issues with canon's .
