cigarette smoke

Hi all. I know cigarette smoke is bad for electronics, but has anyone here had their DVX around a lot of cig smoke? Any adverse effects observed? Or am I paranoid?

I'm going to be shooting a short at my friend's house this weekend, just for fun. He's a heavy smoker...

Thanks everyone!

Re: cigarette smoke

Not sure about adverse reactions, but your camera will smell like smoke for a few days afterwards, ...Oh and also it might cause low birth weight.

Re: cigarette smoke

Don't worry, it will be okay but as the last post said it will smell like smoke for a couple of days but it should work fine.

Re: cigarette smoke

Good to know, I'm supposed to do some shooting for a band I work with. I was worried about taking her into a smoke-filled bar.

You smoke by your computer? Ever Windex the monitor screen? Yecch.

Shooting consitions are not often that static, but perhaps over time...

Re: cigarette smoke

I had my DVX on the patch to try & stop that dirty habit of picking up smoke, but it crept out back and lit up, so I just gave up on that boy. Now he wants me to spill beer on him, what's a parent to do? ::)

Just clean your camera, the smoke will enter the electronics eventually & foul switches in the year 2025 AD... you''l need to have it hang over a brick of tobacco for that to happen sooner. I would imagine by the time the switches foul you'll be using another camera....years from now.

In other words don't loose sleep over it. If your in a smokey environment all the time throw a small towel over it.
