Chrosziel follow focus

I'm considdering plopping down the money for one of these, where's the best place to buy one? Also, anyone done any test shots with them that are online? I'd love to see. Let me know what you guys think, is it worth the money? I'm on a budget here but I've also been frustrated focusing on the lens. Let me know
thanks

Re: Chrosziel follow focus

I have one and it makes life alot easier to focus. Keep in mind you'll need the rods system and the correct focus drive gear as well with it. I bought mine from zgc.com...  Not really any "test" shots with rack pulls, etc on it... but there are some focuses here:  http://www.kylestauffer.com/dvx/street/    or   http://www.kylestauffer.com/dvx/fire

Is this your first accessory you're buying for your rig? If so, you might consider some more important accessories first (good tripod, mic, case, mattebox, etc)

Re: Chrosziel follow focus

Thanks for the response. I have a case, and an extra battery, and I'm thinking i'll just rent a tripod when necessary (at film school, rentals are still free). So I'm looking at more on camera stuff. Mattebox was another option I had considered, but there are seemingly a number of options. I'm inclined to go with Century Optics because i've always had good luck with their stuff (and the soft mattebox doesn't seem like its for me, and the chrosziel is a little pricey). I dunno though, for a century optics mattebox and rail system, what are we talking here? Like $350 for the mattebox, annother $350 for the rail? Gosh this stuff seems pricey for what you get. . .

Welcome to the world of professional camera gear :)

Re: Chrosziel follow focus

I also have the Chrosziel follow focus and I actually bought it directly from them (Chrosziel is a german company).
Price is somewhat the same compared to buying elsewhere, so no special "factory outlet" discount.

In terms of quality it is one finely machined piece of hardware and the good thing in these mechanical items is that you can probably use them for the next ten cameras you might buy.
So although prices are high, its an investment you won't regret.

I do concur with what Kyle said, a mattebox might be a better investment at the time being.
