Chrome and Firefox

It came to my attention that if you’re using explorer than in Google page Chrome advertisement appears. But if you’re using Firefox, no advertisement. Is Google supporting Firefox and open source? If so, why have they developed Google Chrome?

Google has a long history of supporting Firefox, even hiring out their own workers to help with it on occasion. The search page has been Google by default since it started, to the best of my knowledge, with a deal that supports both of them. Not sure on their relations since then.

Well, I think (not 100% sure) the chrome browers core engine is based around FireFox's engine.

In any case, I've switched from IE to FireFox, now I've swithed again to Opera 9.6, from my tests and its one of the lightest and fastest (not counting k-melion), as its core was built for mobile platfoms such as mobile phones.

Plus the fact its written entirely in C++ with native windows API calles, unlike Firefox which consumes around 80 MB with just two tabs open, Opera weighs in at 20-40 MB with two tabs. When minimised it just sits there at around 1.5 MB

I've seen some peoples machine with Firefox consuming around 500 MB, thats simply not acceptable IMHO.

Firefox is one of the few times I'll take features over low impact.

Anyway, on further reading it looks like the lead programmer for Chrome was the lead developer of Firefox up until 2006. So probably a lot of similarities.
