Chroma question...

Hi guys

Working on a project where I need to isolate some video elements for use in a flash (facebook) application.

The footage is of a woman, shot against a green screen. She's performing some simple actions that we need to have as separate, isolated elements that can be used in different ways for the flash game.

In an ideal world, I would give the full files as quicktimes or flvs to my flash designer, and let him key out the green himself. Is this possible? Does flash have chroma key capabilities?

If not, what is the best way to get my flash designer the distinct elements? I've heard that a possible workflow involves exporting two files for each clip, and alpha channel and then a color version, which my designer can then fuse back together to get the keyed out elements.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that On2 VP6 allows for an alpha channel, however you'll need to make sure you export the video, after you've done the green-screen plugin on your end.

I'm not entirely too familiar with the process, so you'll need to do some trial encodes.

My first suguestion would be to start in After effects, use Keylight to get your cutout (Theres a good keying tutorial in here http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorial/advanced_car_hit/)

After you have good results, export the video using the internal FLV exporter, and make sure the alpha channel gets passed along to the encoder. You must go into the options and tell the encoder to include the alpha channel.

On this webpage it tells you how to do it from the Adobe Media encoder, however the same functionality should be in After Effects and Premiere Pro.
