More of a TV Question, if this thread should be some where else help me out Mod,

Shooting with a HPX502 + J13aX9B KRS-V from a chopper (R44)

http://www.versavideo.com/sample/CanonDemo.html Demo of Lens Working

Any tips for shooting out of this aircraft with a should mount?

Should I use a tripod and sandbag ?

Is there anything I can do for the CA from this older lens with a CAC File ?

You defiinitely do not want to be on sticks. The vibrations will be terrible. If those are your choices, go with the shoulder.

What will you be shooting -- wide scenics, vehicles, wildlife, an event?

The doors will be wide open, right?
You and camera will be safely harnessed in, right?
I'd have a monitor on the floor, maybe another for the pilot to see what you're trying to do, if that is legal. One shooter I knew -- who was a pilot even -- started to get airsick in a copter from continuously looking at the world through the viewfinder of a camera with a gyrozoom lens.

Shooting a boat race,

Doors Open - Yes
Harness - Yes
Camera Harness - Yes

So an external monitor so I dont get airsick, good idea i got an 8in panny

The R44 is a vibration nightmare. That said Ive shot out of one quite a few times with a HPX.

The R44 is way to small for tripod, which is not a good idea anyway. Youll be shooting with door off, and so everything must be locked down. A well directed anything flying out the door could bring the chopper down. Safety first.

Is this a live feed? If not, Ive found that shooting 1080 and using a smoothing in AE gives the desired result.

The biggest thing that will make a difference in a r44 is pilot. You want a good one, who isnt going to be a cowboy.

Oh also, the HPX is too big to shoot off shoulder in an R44, youll need to shoot off your lap and push your lense out and down to get the shot you need.
